Nails
Your nails speak volumes about your health and well-being. Nails can be one of the best indicators of your overall health and well-being. If your nails are healthy and strong, it can be a sign that all systems are go in your body.
A few things to keep an eye on with your nails include:
Color: Healthy nails should be a uniform color with no discoloration. They should have a pinkish hue that is slightly translucent. If the nail is turning yellow or white, this could be a sign of dehydration.
Shape: Nails that are healthy and strong should not be brittle or cracked. They should have an even shape and not be too short or too long. If your nails are splitting in two, it could be an indication that you are consuming too much protein (from animal sources). Your body may be excreting excess protein through the nail bed.
Cold hands and feet can also cause splitting nails. Protein rich foods like meat, dairy, and beans can also cause brittle nails by drying out the nail bed.
